Sustainability - From Knowledge to Action with Vetnordic

VetSalus engaged 50 Danish clinicians in climate & ESG dialogue, to drive sustainability action in veterinary practice.

In November 2025, VetSalus was invited to lead Vetnordic’s annual Christmas event, bringing together over 50 veterinarians and veterinary nurses for two dedicated sessions on sustainability in veterinary practice. The programme focused on the veterinary sector’s role in the green transition — including climate impact, responsible resource use, animal welfare, and the practical steps clinics can take to integrate sustainability into everyday decision-making.

A highlight of the event was a presentation by Majbritt Bisgaard from Randers Dyrehospital, who shared her clinic’s experience with developing an ESG report: why they chose to do it, how they approached the process, and how the insights are now shaping future improvements. Her talk sparked lively table discussions and provided a highly practical perspective for participants considering similar initiatives.

Vetnordic has made it their mission to offer veterinary practices the best products, solutions and support to reduce complexity and inefficiency, leaving veterinarians, nurses and technicians with more quality time for their patients.

Mia Hørdum Søderlund, Training Program Manager at Vetnordic, said of the event:

At Vetnordic, we would like to help veterinary clinics on their journey towards a smaller climate footprint. We have all had difficulty figuring out what the right thing to do is and how to incorporate the changes into everyday life, which is often busy. That is why we have invited VetSalus to give a presentation to our customers. VetSalus has extensive experience in helping veterinarians on this journey and can therefore target the message directly to our customers.

Executive Officer Rune Friis Kristensen noted that the strong engagement clearly shows a growing recognition in Denmark of the important role veterinarians play in driving sustainability within the wider animal health sector:

It was a pleasure facilitating Vetnordic's Christmas event for their customers, where over 50 veterinarians and veterinary nurses gathered around to discuss sustainability in the veterinary profession. We talked about climate footprinting, sustainability, animal welfare and the role of the veterinary sector in the green transition.

Majbritt Bisgaard gave an inspirational presentation and spoke passionately about the actions they have taken, including the ESG report they had produced and importantly how the practice will use it. The tables engaged diligently in discussion, which I am sure will make a big difference that we in Denmark are now opening up to how important the role of veterinarians in the green transition actually is.

Thank you so much for the opportunity and please remember to reach out to me or my colleagues at VetSalus if you also want to join the movement.

One attendee present at the event remarked:

Thank you so much for a very exciting presentation!

VetSalus would like to thank Vetnordic for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute. Clinics interested in exploring ESG reporting, sustainability strategy, or practical implementation tools are encouraged to take at look at a range of resources on our website, and to reach out to the VetSalus team.
