VetSalus is an international network of veterinarians, working together across the agriculture sector to deliver wholesome food from healthy animals. We connect international food processors with local veterinary expertise, to improve animal health, welfare and sustainability outcomes across the global food chain. As an independent advisory network we engage in collaborative projects, promoting a One Health approach to address animal health, public health, and environmental challenges. Vet Sustain is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) championing sustainability in the veterinary professions. We consist of a team of Directors, programme leads, volunteers and working group members, promoting our Veterinary Sustainability Goals via our three strategic pillars: Learn, Connect, and Lead. We provide tools and training, support a sustainability roundtable of veterinary stakeholders, and deliver communications and advocacy amongst our UK and global network. VetSalus and Vet Sustain work closely in partnership to deliver shared tools, resources and courses to support veterinary professionals on their sustainability journeys, in the UK and beyond. This unique role will support both organisations on a 50:50 basis, providing high‑level administrative and organisational assistance for our respective and shared project portfolios. The successful candidate will be based in the UK and will work flexibly and remotely, with occasional UK-based travel.
Duties will include:
Coordinating and supporting events, workshops, and meetings including the preparation of agendas, briefings, minutes, and supporting documents, and attending directors meetings (often held in the evenings, UK time);
Tracking key projects, deadlines, and deliverables, ensuring follow‑through and timely updates;
Handling enquiry inboxes, prioritising messages and drafting responses where appropriate;
Management and organisation of our shared Google drive;
Administrating the organisations’ financial accounts including handling course payments, allocating income to projects, and reconciling Stripe/Xero accounts;
Administering course updates to our education platform ‘Thinkific’;
Providing technical support to users of our Carbon Calculator web tools;
Supporting communications and marketing by implementing simple website updates, supporting social media, and drafting newsletters in Mailchimp;
Occasional event/conference attendance to represent and support our organisations;
Building strong working relationships across teams to support smooth information flow;
Other tasks as agreed with the organisations
The successful candidate will have the following attributes, skills and qualifications:
A deep care for animals, people and the planet;
Exceptional organisational and time‑management skills, with a sharp attention to detail;
Strong written and verbal communication abilities and proficiency with digital tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Drive, Xero, Mailchimp etc - although training will be provided where needed);
Proven experience supporting team members in a fast‑paced environment, ideally as part of a small, mission-driven organisation;
Ability to manage competing priorities, and work remotely and independently with a positive, self-starter attitude;
Demonstrable understanding of and ideally experience of working in the veterinary or animal-based sectors;
Willingness to contribute to a collaborative, adaptable team culture where everyone supports each other and our core operational needs;
Skills, experience and attitude will be favoured over formal qualifications; however a foundation degree, higher national diploma, or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject would be advantageous.
