VetSalus has appointed Adam Estrup as Incoming Chair, effective 1 February 2026, marking an important step in the organisation’s preparations for its next three-year strategic period.
Adam Estrup will work closely with Interim CEO Rune Friis Kristensen and the executive team in the lead-up to his formal appointment as Chair and Board Director at the VetSalus Board meeting in March. His early start will ensure a structured and effective handover from outgoing Chair Katrine Lawaetz, supporting continuity in leadership and governance.
VetSalus operates at the intersection of animal health, welfare, and sustainable food production, connecting veterinary expertise with global food-system stakeholders. The organisation is currently expanding its international partnerships and advisory role in sustainable livestock development.
Adam Estrup brings more than 25 years of experience spanning animal health, life sciences, governance, and international stakeholder collaboration. He is widely recognised for his leadership within Nordic and European animal health policy and for his ability to align industry, government, and scientific communities around shared strategic goals.
He previously served as Executive Director of Veterinary Industry Nordic and as a twice-elected Vice President of AnimalhealthEurope, representing the Nordic region in European policy and regulatory dialogue. His career has combined board leadership, strategic communication, and cross-sector governance in complex international environments.
“I am truly excited to join VetSalus at such an important moment in its development,” said Adam Estrup. “I am deeply impressed by how far the organisation has already come in building meaningful international collaboration around animal health, welfare, and sustainability. I look forward to working with the Board and executive team to help guide VetSalus through its next strategic phase and to strengthen its role as a trusted partner across the global food value chain.”
Interim CEO Rune Friis Kristensen welcomed the appointment:
“I am very much looking forward to working closely with Adam. His experience, network, and governance insight are an outstanding match for where VetSalus is heading. We are proud that someone of his calibre finds the Chair role at VetSalus both relevant and interesting, and I am confident he will be a strong partner in delivering our strategic ambitions over the coming years.”
Outgoing Chair Katrine Lawaetz will remain in position through the March Board meeting to support a smooth transition.
With this leadership step, VetSalus reinforces its commitment to strong governance, international collaboration, and evidence-based progress in sustainable animal production.
