Meet Our Experts - Jo Brewin

Jo Brewin is part of our network of experts, read on to hear more about her work.

Jo Brewin is a production animal veterinarian who began her career in the UK, spending 2.5 years working in the Peak District before relocating to South Canterbury, New Zealand. There, she spent three years with Vetlife, deepening her clinical experience in livestock health. Over time, Jo developed a growing interest in contributing more broadly to animal and public health beyond the clinical setting.

She is currently undertaking a Master of Veterinary Studies at Massey University as a full-time student, with a focus on developing epidemiological and analytical skills to support a transition into research. Her academic interests include One Health, zoonotic diseases, animal welfare, and policy development - with particular interest in those relating to large animals, reflecting her clinical background. A central theme emerging from her studies is the value of evidence-based practice, and she is keen to support practising veterinarians by providing access to current, research-backed guidance that enhances animal health outcomes.

Jo has long been conscious of the environmental impact of human activity. Throughout her time in veterinary practice, she has actively sought ways to make the profession more sustainable and less wasteful, with the aim of reducing its overall carbon footprint.
