Mark Burnell
Mark Burnell has been working in dairy practice for over 30 years. In 1991 he gained the Dutch Foot Trimming Diploma from the Dairy Training Centre in Oenkerk, Netherlands. He holds the RCVS Certificate in Cattle Health and Reproduction (1993) and the Diploma in Bovine Reproduction from Liverpool University (2004). He was the Clinical Director and now is a Senior Clinician at Synergy Farm Health, a large farm animal practice covering Dorset, Somerset and East Devon. Much of Mark’s working time is now involved with consultancy work for major retailers as well as maintaining an interest in clinical work and mentoring young vets; he is also responsible for promoting and developing the breeding advisory offering of the practice including the use of genomic testing of female dairy heifers. He has spoken widely to farmer and vet audiences in the UK and abroad and in 2010 won the Farmers Weekly Livestock Advisor of the Year Award.
